These paintings from the Venetian Series are a state of quiet In this series
I have tried t recall the luminosity of Venetian Glass by layering the paint.
The depth, intensity and expression found in these works emerge from the
inside out as the layers build upon one another. Areas of color appear to be
infused with light...visual information is conveyed and deliberate attention paid
to the different colors. This process results in an abstract interplay of colors
revealing the depth beneath the surface of Venetian glass. With the serene
effortlessness in their appearance these works remain non referential. When
I am asked in which direction they should hang, my answer is the following:
"because of the sense of space, these works have no particular direction."
These works also reflect a sense of identification with the peace, vitality and
monumental vastness of the landscape.
