The fact that I am influenced by my surroundings reflects in this series. Most
of my landscapes are executed directly from what I see outside my studio
windows. Looking at some of these blooming abstract trees ..one can almost
feel the motion and excitement, the pushing and pulling of the colors. The
paintings are crowded and energetic. These works are more personal and
experimental and very unpredictable. The paint is applied with a palette knife.
they are painted freely ..they are painted with love. These large canvases
hark back to the old tapestries made for the great courts of Europe during the
15th, 16th and 17th centuries. In these paintings of my boutique crap apple
tress..your eyes are drawn to the fragile, delicate little buds of color hinting of
the lushness to come quietly, resigned...waiting to burst into bloom....waiting
for spring.
